Readout of National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan’s Meeting with Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico Alicia Bárcena Ibarra

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan hosted Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alicia Bárcena Ibarra and Mexican officials at the White House to discuss a range of issues of mutual priority and concern.

During the meeting, they committed to continue addressing the root causes of migration and increase enforcement along our shared border. National Security Advisor Sullivan outlined recent U.S. efforts to expand access to safe, orderly, legal migration pathways. They also discussed the Government of Mexico's plan to establish an international multipurpose space in southern Mexico to provide refugee and labor pathways for vulnerable people in Mexico.
