There are multiple reports that Elon Musk announced his fight against Mark Zuckerberg would happen in Rome's Colosseum after the current owner of X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, announced on the platform Friday (August 11).
He previously alluded the match would take place in an ancient Roman site, further alluding to the Colosseum by using the word "Gladiator" alongside two sword emojis.
"The fight will be managed by my and Zuck's foundations (not UFC)," he said. "Livestream will be on this platform and Meta. Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all."
However, the date of the duel has not been announced as of this report.
Musk: Already Spoke With Italian PM Meloni on Venue
Musk added he already spoke to Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Italian Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano and has "agreed on an epic location."
UFC president Dana White also confirmed he spoke with Sangiuliano about the venue of the slugfest.
"It's real, they do wanna fight," he added. "We were literally talking about the Colosseum for that fight."
Musk also assured everything in his power would be done to "pay respect to the past and present of Italy."
It was also revealed proceeds of the fight would "go to veterans."
Rome's Colosseum, one of the world's seven wonders, is Italy's most iconic landmark but it has not hosted massive audiences inside for hundreds of years. However, the monument could only seat a few hundred spectators inside on temporary seating.
Typically, the Colosseum has provided a backdrop for Rome's Good Friday Stations of the Cross during the Christian Holy Week, with the pope officiating the prayer service.
