China called Taiwan Vice President William Lai as he continued visiting the United States.
The Chinese government vowed vigorous measures to protect the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
China Calls Taiwan VP 'Troublemaker' For His US Visit
According to Reuters' latest report, China criticized the U.S. visit of Lai. The Chinese government said the official was a "troublemaker through and through."
China even described him as a separatist, saying they will take strong measures to protect the Asian nation's sovereignty.
For the past years, the Chinese government has claimed that it democratically governs Taiwan as its own territory.
Since China was not on good terms with the United States, Beijing repeatedly denounced the trip of William Lai.
But, despite the criticism, the Taiwanese official continued his plan to visit the U.S.
"Lai stubbornly adheres to the separatist position of Taiwan independence and is a troublemaker through and through," said the Chinese ministry via The Guardian.
"China is closely following developments and will take resolute and vigorous measures to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity," it added.
Rumors claimed that China would likely conduct military drills near Taiwan during the U.S. visit of the Taiwanese vice president.
They explained that these activities are expected to intimidate voters ahead of the Taiwan election 2024.

CNN World reported that William Lai arrived in New York on Saturday, Aug. 12. His next stop is Paraguay, where he will attend Paraguayan President Santiago Pena's inauguration on Aug. 15.
Lai openly said he was happy to visit New York, considered an icon of liberty, democracy, and opportunities.
When Lai arrived at his New York hotel, the Taiwanese official was greeted by his supporters by waving flags.
He said that he was looking forward to seeing friends and attending transit programs in New York.
Before his next trip, people familiar with Lai's activities said that the Taiwanese vice president would join receptions with overseas Taiwanese in New York.
During this stopover, the official will make a speech.
Sources clarified that William Lai would not meet with U.S. lawmakers, claiming that Taiwan's VP will keep his visit low-key.
