Former Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger is reportedly unhappy with his trade to the Philadelphia 76ers and wants a buyout. If Philadelphia agrees to a buyout, Granger could land with the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs or Los Angeles Clippers.
Granger's last-minute trade to Philadelphia on Thursday didn't sit well with him. The 30-year-old veteran was upset by the deal and is expected to discuss a buyout with 76ers general manager Sam Hinkie.
Dei Lynam of CSNPhilly.com reports Granger may get his wish, too.
"There is very much a feeling that Granger would like a buyout from the Sixers and one league source says the Sixers would be willing to negotiate that," Lynam wrote on Sunday.
If Granger receives a buyout for the remainder of his $14 million salary and becomes a free agent, there appears to be an eager market awaiting him.
"Many around the league expect Danny Granger to sign with either the Miami Heat or San Antonio Spurs once the Sixers buy him out," Jake Fischer of LibertyBallers.com tweeted on Friday.
"If Danny Granger gets a buyout, the (Clippers) will be among several teams competing for him," David Baumann of CBS Sports radio tweeted on Monday. "Source: 'It'll be like the Wild-West for him.'"
One of the three aforementioned teams could be a likely destination for Granger, who reportedly wants to sign with a title-contender. All three teams also have at least one open roster spot.
A decision on Granger's future in Philadelphia could come as early as tomorrow night.
If released by March 1, according to ESPN's Marc Stein, Granger would be eligible to play in the postseason for another team.
