Lucy Letby Update: Doctors Reporting Killer Nurse Ordered to Apologize
According to Independent UK's latest report, documents revealed that the former chief executive of the Countess of Chester Hospital, Tony Chambers, forced doctors who raised concerns about Letby to apologize to the nurse.
Chambers talked to Letby, as well as her father since he initially believed that the British nurse was innocent.
The former hospital chief said that Letby would return to work on the unit imminently and doctors who accused her should apologize to the woman.
But, Lucy didn't return to the neonatal unit. Because of this, the police began their investigation.
Dr. Ravi Jayaram, one of the hospital's consultants, said that he received a warning from officials saying that it would be bad for the reputation of the medical institution.
Jayaram said that the hospital called the case of Luci a "Kafkaesque situation."
BBC reported that the investigation revealed a catalog of failures, which raise serious concerns about how the hospital responded to the deaths.
Why Lucy Letby Killed Seven Babies
For those who have no idea who Lucy Letby is, she's a British nurse who was found guilty of killing seven newborns and attempted murders of six more infants.
Nick Johnson KC, the prosecutor, explained that Lucy enjoyed "playing God" by hurting newborns. Once she's done with her heinous deed, she will be the first one to alert her colleagues regarding what happened.
Johnson said that Letby was aware of what was happening to the babies.
"She was enjoying what was going on. She was predicting things that she knew were going to happen. She, in effect, was playing God," said the prosecutor.
Letby is considered to be the most prolific serial killer of newborns in the modern history of Britain.
