Apple releases new information regarding its iPhone 15 Pro Max product, including its potential release date, price, and more.
Reports suggest that the release date for the tech company's latest product will be delayed because one component exclusively used in the iPhone 15 Pro Max is in short supply. This could mean the new phone may not hit the shelves until mid-October.
Apple's New iPhone 15 Series
The delay comes when consumers are looking to place their orders for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which could result in them seeing shipping dates moved to October. Sony makes the component that is in question, an image sensor that will not be used on the iPhone 15 Pro.
Rumors claim that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will have a periscope camera for the telephoto lens that uses mirrors to reflect light into the body of the mobile device. This results in the elongation of the focal length. This gives the telephoto lens a zoom equivalent greater than three times compared to what is equipped on the current Pro iPhone series, as per Forbes.
The situation is not the first time Apple's Pro and Pro Max phones have become unique. Additionally, the difference in the phones' cameras is nothing new as they typically define the Max as the most capable, as well as the biggest and priciest iPhone.
An anonymous analyst's note suggests that there could be a three- to four-week delay for the release of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This means the product could go on sale on Friday, Oct. 6, or Friday, Oct. 13.
iPhone Prices
On top of the release date, a separate report claims that based on sources from Apple's supply chain located in Taiwan, the prices of the company's products will most likely become higher. The iPhone 15 Pro Max's new telephoto lens technology could add $200 to the iPhone 14 Pro Max price tag, which currently costs $1,099. This means that the new product could cost customers $1,299.
However, Apple does have some leeway when raising its prices for its products, as even its flagship model has a price starting from $1,099, and its direct competitors, from companies such as Samsung or Oppo, cost much more, according to the Phone Arena.
Additionally, once officially revealed, the prices for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max could reflect on the sales numbers that the company's analysts have predicted so far. Omdia, a market research firm, forecasted that the tech company will ship roughly 28.5 million units of the iPhone 15 Pro Max this year alone.
Apple's new iPhone 15 series also has a variety of new changes, including a shift from Lightning to USB-C and a new Dynamic Island design for standard models. On the other hand, the Pro models are rumored to have a titanium frame and a programmable button in place of the regular mute switch, said Gizmochina.
