Peskov explained why the Russian leader has no plans of attending the funeral of the Wagner boss.

He said that the Prigozhin's funeral arrangements were a matter for the warlord's family. Dimitry added that the Russian government also doesn't know the details about the funeral, such as the schedule and place.

The Russian spokesperson further stated that they are not allowed to make comments on the private family ceremony.

"The president's presence [at Prigozhin's funeral] is not envisaged. We don't have any specific information on the funeral," stated Peskov via The Guardian.

Although Peskov reiterates that the place and time of Prigozhin's funeral are unknown, some sources said that the former Wagner chief could be laid as early as Aug. 29.

They added that the funeral will take place at the Serafimovski cemetery in northwestern Saint Petersburg, in Primorsky District.

Local media outlets shared these details after seeing heavy police cordons surrounding the cemetery, which is also the place where Putin's parents are buried.

ABC News reported that the Russian government is avoiding making too many statements about Prigozhin's death to avoid further conflicts.

However, experts said that the confusion and tight secrecy surrounding the Wagner chief's funeral reflect the speculations claiming that his death was a vendetta for the mercenary group's mutiny against Russia.

Despite rumors and other problems, Vladimir Putin still commented on Prigozhin's death. The Russian president said that the Wagner Group's leader and other officials who died in the plane crash all made a significant contribution to fighting Ukraine.

Putin added that Prigozhin was a talented businessman. But, he also said that the former Wagner boss was a man of difficult fate as he made serious mistakes in his life.
