For those who are unaware, Harwell co-founded the popular American band. Sadly, the beloved singer died at the age of 56.

According to Rolling Stone magazine, the death of Harwell was confirmed by Smash Mouth's manager, Robert Hayes.
He said that the former lead singer died at his home in Boise, Idaho. Steve passed away peacefully as he was surrounded by his friends and family during his last moments.
"Steve has been retired from Smash Mouth for two years now, and the band continues to tour with new vocalist Zach Goode," said Hayes.
He said that the legacy that Harwell left will live in through the. The band's manager also mentioned how Steve helped Smash Mouth become a successful music group.
Hayes said that with Steve, the American band was able to sell more than 10 million albums across the globe. Aside from this, the decreased singer also helped Smash Mouth topped charts with two #1 hit singles, three Hot 100 singles, five Top 40 singles, four Billboard 200 albums, and a Grammy nomination.
Aside from this, the American alternative rock band was able to make hundreds of television and film placements, such as in "Shrek," thanks to Harwell.
What Caused Steve Harwell's Death?
On Sept. 3, TMZ reported that Steve Harwell was already on death bed; his family and friends were reportedly saying their goodbyes.
For the past few years, the former Smash Mouth lead singer has been battling against his medical conditions.
The band's manager shared that throughout Harwell's life, the musician has been struggling with alcohol abuse.
Because of this, Steve reached the final stage of liver failure. However, CBS News reported that the main cause of Harwell's death was not released.
Hayes said that Steve's iconic voice will always be one of the recognizable voices from his generation.
The band's manager added that Harwell was a true "American Original" who was loved by music fans.
"Steve should be remembered for his unwavering focus and impassioned determination to reach the heights of pop stardom," he added.
Robert further stated that Steve lived his life in "full-throttle" and was "burning brightly across the universe before burning out."
