Sabre, a global travel booking giant, announced that it has fallen victim to a serious data breach. Now, a ransomware group claims that they are the ones responsible for this cybersecurity attack.
This Ransomware Gang Claims It Breached Sabre's Data
The Dunghill Leak, a new ransomware group that came from the Dark Angels, claims that it is the one that hacked Sabre's systems.
In a recent email, Sabre's spokesperson Heide Castle said that they are aware of the data exfiltration that happened on their database.
"Sabre is aware of the claims of a data exfiltration made by the threat group and we are currently investigating to determine their validity," said the official via Tech Crunch.
The Dunghill Leak group says that it is the one behind the data breach that Sabre is investigating. The hacking team claims to have stolen around 1.3 TB of data.
Members of the ransomware gang said that they were able to acquire databases on passenger turnovers, ticket sales, corporate financial information, as well as the personal data of Sabre's employees.
To prove their point, the Dunghill Leak even posted a portion of the stolen files. The hacking group said that it will make the full cache available soon.
As of writing, Sabre hasn't identified when was the did the security breach happened. But, based on the screenshots shared by the hacking gang, the data was stolen in July.
Since the Dunghill Leak is a new cyber hacking group, not much is known about it.

Dunghill Leak Also Behind Gentex Breach
The latest Sabre data breach is not the only cyberattack claimed by the Dunghill Leak. In May, a Dunghill operator sent an email to TechTarget, saying that they were the ones behind the Gentex breach.
The ransomware member included a link to a TOR page that allegedly contained 5 TB of corporate data.
The Dunghill Leak operator said that the stolen data from Gentex included client documents, emails, and personal details of around 10,000 employees, such as their Social Security numbers.
Despite being a rebranded group from the Dark Angels, the Dunghill Leak has been taking credit for some serious security breaches.
These include the cyberattacks on food giant Sysco and coin-operated game maker Incredible Technologies.
