The Angel Studios-distributed film "Sound of Freedom" was supposed to be scheduled for showing within the headquarters of the US Southern Command in Florida on August 28 and October 19, only to be canceled after The Military Times published an article about its purported connection or sympathy with the conspiracy theories allegedly propagated by the group QAnon.
"Sound of Freedom" became an unexpected box office hit during its premiere weekend, something the entertainment industry was genuinely surprised of given its low budget and the speculation that it sat on Disney's shelf for five years before Angel Studios bought the rights to it.
Angel Studios is more known for distributing the Jesus series "The Chosen."

Shown to the World, Shelved Back Home
In the aftermath of its success domestically - specifically defeating the latest Indiana Jones and Mission: Impossible movies in the ratings on their opening weekend - the studio decided to show the Alejandro Monteverde-directed film to the rest of the world.
However, back home, the film was still a flashpoint in the country's culture wars and political discussions.
An email flier allegedly obtained by the Military Times reporters invited all locally-based personnel to attend as a way of supporting the command's "mission to promote respect for human rights and combating trafficking in persons in Central and South America and the Caribbean."
"The showing of this film does not imply or constitute endorsement by the US Army nor SOUTHCOM," the email concluded.
Upon contacting Southcom about the screenings and its alleged political implications, the command called it off, saying that the cancellation was to "prevent the appearance of copyright infringement." As a result, Southcom "encouraged" its personnel and their dependents to view the movie at local theaters as it was "currently available."
Breitbart Alleges Left-Leaning Agenda in Military Times Report
On the other hand, Breitbart revealed in its own report that the Military Times reporters of the article who "disparagingly" discredited the film allegedly had previous working experiences with the "far-left-wing" publication The Texas Tribune.
The report described the film as "QAnon-embraced" and "Christian-faith-based" to apparently discredit the movie's artistic legacy and overall message of fighting against human trafficking in general.
"Sound of Freedom" was a film based on the life and work of Tim Ballard (played by Jim Caviezel), a former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agent who left his job to undergo a personal mission to rescue children from sex trafficking rings.
