Aerosmith Postpones 6 ‘Farewell Tour’ Shows Until 2024 Due to Steven Tyler’s Vocal Cord Injury

The locations affected are Detroit, Chicago, Washington, Toronto, Raleigh, and Cleveland.

As a result of lead vocalist Steven Tyler sustaining damage to his vocal cords over the weekend, Aerosmith was forced to postpone its remaining September gigs in six different locations. This means that fans will have to wait longer to say farewell to the band.

In a statement posted by the band on Monday, September 11, Tyler said, "I'm heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor's orders not to sing for the next thirty days. I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday's show that led to subsequent bleeding. We'll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve."

Six upcoming performances by the Dream On band have been postponed until January and February of 2024. The new dates are as follows: January 29 in Detroit; February 14 in Chicago; February 17 in Washington, DC; February 21 in Toronto; February 26 in Raleigh, North Carolina; and February 29 in Cleveland.

The revised dates will be honored for all already bought tickets. If a fan is unable to make one of the rescheduled dates, he or she may request a refund.

Aerosmith's Peace Out: The Farewell Tour kicked off on September 2 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia; this announcement comes early in the run.

The rock band's shows were packed with their greatest hits, such as Love in an Elevator, Janie's Got a Gun, I Don't Want to Miss a Thing, Sweet Emotion, and Walk This Way. In addition to that, they paid homage to Fleetwood Mac by performing a version of Stop Messin' Around.

The concert was the band's 40th show in the city of Philadelphia. Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, and Brad Whitford, the other original members of the band, joined Tyler.

According to celebrity magazine People, John Douglas took up drum duties from Joey Kramer. Kramer went on a "temporary leave of absence" in March 2022, missing the band's Deuces Are Wild residency in Las Vegas. In June of 2022, at the age of 55, his wife Linda passed away.

Tyler's Health Condition

After Tyler had foot surgery to get him ready for the band's comeback to the stage in May 2022, he joined a treatment program for relapse. The band placed their Las Vegas residency on hold.

"As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years. After foot surgery to prepare for the stage and the necessity of pain management during the process, he has recently relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program to concentrate on his health and recovery," the band said in a statement released the previous year.

In September 2022, Aerosmith returned to Las Vegas for further gigs, but their December plans were canceled due to Tyler's health.
