Louisiana High School Shooting Kills 1 Student, 2 Injured; Juvenile Suspect in Custody

One person was killed, and two others were hurt when a youngster opened fire at St. Helena College & Career Academy in Greensburg, Louisiana, in a tragic incident that rocked the neighborhood.

Around 3:30 pm, the horrible incident occurred, leaving the school and the town in shock and mourning, as per CBS News.

According to the St. Helena Parish Sheriff's Office, a life was lost in this senseless act of violence. Two injured pupils were transported to hospitals by ambulance and helicopter, respectively.

Although the victim's identity and the degree of their injuries have not been made public, the entire community and their fellow students keep them in their prayers, as per CBS News. Law enforcement officers acted quickly and, detained a 14-year-old pupil who was allegedly behind the gunshot.

The inquiry is still ongoing thus the identity of the alleged gunman is yet unknown. Authorities have not yet provided details on a potential reason for this tragic tragedy. A regular end to the school day was turned into a nightmare catastrophe when the shooting happened as the pupils were being dismissed for the day.
