Amanda Bynes Update: Actress Pleads No Contest To Reckless Driving, DUI Charges Dropped

Amanda Bynes' legal woes come to a close as the "Easy A" actress has taken a plea deal relating to her DUI charges.

According to CNN, Bynes pleaded no contest to reckless driving and the DUI charges were dismissed against her as part of the deal. Bynes will have to serve three years of probation, pay a fine and take an alcohol education course as part of her agreement with the court.

"The DUI charge was filed in June 2012 after Bynes' BMW allegedly sideswiped a police cruiser in West Hollywood in April 2012," CNN reports. "She picked up two hit-and-run cases in the next several months, along with a charge of driving with a suspended license. All of those charges were eventually dropped."

The 27-year-old actress has been in and out of psychiatric treatment facilities since 2013. Her alleged mental illnesses have caused multiple delays in processing the case in court, including a judge ruling the actress was not competent to stand trial. Bynes has not confirmed what her illness is, but PerezHilton.com reports have stated she is suffering from schizophrenia.

Bynes has been living with her parents since she was released from a Malibu treatment center in December. Sources close to Bynes told PerezHilton.com she is on the path the recovery and takes her medical condition very seriously.

"Amanda is responding very well to the medication she is taking for schizophrenia," an insider told the gossip site. "Rick and Lynn are absolutely thrilled with the progress she has made in such a short amount of time. She continues to see doctors several times a week. Taking a class in fashion merchandising at a fashion school in Orange County has been an incredibly positive experience for Amanda."

The New York case against Bynes stemming from an incident where she allegedly threw a bong out her apartment window was also dropped.
