ABC Net AU reported that Elon Musk wants to charge users and use the funds to combat bots and spam. The billionaire said that his social media platform is moving to have a small monthly payment.

This fee will be applied to people who are using the X system. Based on his statements, all X users must pay the monthly fee once it is implemented.

As of writing, Musk hasn't confirmed when this adjustment will happen and how much the fee will cost. He only said that this monthly charge is the only way to combat "vast armies of bots," as reported by CNBC.

Bloomberg's columnist Dave Lee also reported about Elon Musk's newly announced X monthly fee plan. In the comment section, many users shared their opinion regarding this change.

"That will probably cost 2 dollars, it won't break the users but depending on what the people are offered at the lower tier," explained X user Asmaa.

She added that it will only make the bot accounts more expensive but will not eliminate them. Meanwhile, another X user offered a suggestion, saying that bringing back the moderation teams of the platform would be a better solution.

Aside from the new monthly fee plan, Elon Musk also discussed other things about X. These include new metrics from the platform.

The billionaire claimed that the social media app now has over 550 million monthly users. He added that these users generated around 100 to 200 million X daily posts. However, he didn't disclose the exact numbers of real users and bots.

Originally, Musk's discussion with Netanyahu was supposed to be only about the theoretical risks of AI and how this technology can be regulated. However, the tech executive decided to use this opportunity to dispute the allegations, claiming that his social media platform tolerates antisemitism and hate speech.

Musk and Israel's PM conducted their meeting as the billionaire received widespread criticisms from civil rights groups.
