Russell Brand Scandal Update: YouTube Blocks Creator's Advert Income

According to BBC News' latest report, YouTube confirmed that Brand's YT channels are now suspended from making money using ads on the video platform.

This was announced by a YouTube spokesperson on Tuesday, Sept. 19. He said that they will take action against YT influencers who have harmful off-platform behaviors that can negatively affect the social media's ecosystem, as well as employees and users.

The YT official further stated that the monetization of Russell's channels was suspended because the celebrity violated the company's creator responsibility policy.

YouTube said that all YT channels operated or owned by Brand are included in the monetization suspension. These include pages such as Awakening With Russell, Football is Nice, and Stay Free With Russell.

The latest effort of YouTube against the accused celebrity is a heavy blow since Brand reportedly acquires most of its revenues from the video platform.

"He was probably making more revenue from YouTube than any other platform," said CORQ Chief Executive Sara McCorquodale.

"Everything existed to drive people towards his YouTube channel so that probably was a significant revenue stream that has obviously now been paused," she added.

"We continue to encourage anyone who believes they may have been a victim of a sexual offense, no matter how long ago it was, to contact us," said the police department.

But, Russell denied all the serious accusations against him, claiming that all his relationships for the past years have been consensual.
