Rep. Ken Buck has criticized the GOP's impeachment inquiry against United States President Joe Biden and has maintained his opposition to claims of election fraud.

The GOP lawmaker is the White House's go-to Republican critic of the impeachment inquiry into the president. Buck has recently been known to be looking into leaving Congress and finding a new job, expressing interest in becoming an on-air commentator for CNN.

The Colorado official, who is a five-term fiscal hawk, surprised fellow conservatives as he repeatedly criticized the probe that was launched last week into the president's alleged corruption. These included a Sept. 15 Washington Post op-ed that other GOP lawmakers said that glaring inaccuracies.

Last month, Buck privately said that he was interested in applying for a job at CNN, a source said, after he weighed other potential options in the last year. These include joining a DC-based law firm or seeking Biden's nomination to the Federal Trade Commission, as per the New York Post.

The 64-year-old lawmaker later confirmed that he was exploring his options and said that it would be "great" to become a part of CNN. Buck added that he was interested in talking to the people at the media outlet and other news organizations that he said were on the center-left stance.

The lawmaker said that it would be great if he had the opportunity to do that kind of work full-time or to be a contributor to those organizations. The congressman also said during a phone interview that he was interested in a position at right-leaning Fox News or Newsmax.

The congressman represents a vast rural district that spans the entirety of the eastern border of the Rocky Mountain State. On Tuesday, he said that it was unclear if he would be leaving office "this Congress, next Congress, or whatever."

Buck is one of only two Freedom Caucus members who voted to fully certify Biden's victory during the 2020 elections and later urged Republican lawmakers to "trust the system." His remarks epitomized his unique political persona in the House GOP as being opinionated and at times contrarian, according to Politico.

Criticizing Donald Trump

The Congressman has been willing to isolate himself from the right flank at the risk of receiving backlash from his own lawmaker colleagues. He also criticized former United States President Donald Trump at times, which is considered to be a rare quality among members of the Freedom Caucus.

Buck also said that amid the impeachment inquiry into Biden, the House is heading into a government shutdown and has not made any progress on cutting the country's out-of-control spending.

He noted that the Republican Party's charge against the president is that he personally benefited from his son, Hunter Biden's, business exploits worldwide. While the latter's shady business deals indeed undermined the country's image and anti-corruption goals, there was nothing that connected the president to those deals.

The Congressman noted that his colleagues believe the connection comes through the 2016 firing of Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin, which Biden, who was the vice president at the time, helped facilitate, said the Washington Post.
