The UK is now blaming pornography for worsening the sexual behaviors of teenagers.
Although numerous studies claim that pornography can affect people's behaviors, the new details experts reveal are alarming.
UK Blames Pornography for Teens' Worsening Sexual Behaviors
Police authorities and child abuse experts in the United Kingdom warned that access to pornography is becoming easier than before. Because of this, teenagers can watch pornography videos at an alarming rate. The Guardian reported that increasing extreme pornography access worsens harmful sexual behaviors among young UK residents.
These include sexting, watching online child abuse, and other sexual habits. The Lucy Faithfull Foundation, a U.K.-based charity, also revealed that the calls they receive about teenagers' behaviors are increasing.
"As a service, we have seen an increase in under-18s contacting us for support," said Rachel Haynes, a senior practitioner at the Lucy Faithfull Foundation.
"We particularly began to see it when we launched a chat service for adults during lockdown," she added.
But, the most alarming development that the charity and police authorities discovered is that more minors are watching or sharing illegal child abuse videos and other content.
Haynes explained that most of the teenagers they handled admitted viewing child sexual abuse material. She added that pornography is a major contributing factor to this harmful behavior.
"Teenagers become desensitized to what they are seeing. Sometimes they have been groomed by adults, or have been sent illegal images during sexualized chats online," she added.
