Police in the Netherlands have arrested a 32-year-old male student after he shot and killed two people and seriously injured a 14-year-old girl Thursday (September 28).
The shooting occurred at the Erasmus Medical Center in downtown Rotterdam, prompting patients and medics to flee the hospital or barricade themselves inside their rooms.
Police Chief Fred Westerbeke told reporters that he wore a bulletproof vest and the motive for the shooting was still under investigation.
The shooter's identity has not been released, the Associated Press reported.

According to Westerbeke, the shooter first shot and killed a 39-year-old woman while seriously injuring her 14-year-old daughter at an apartment near where the suspect lived. He then went to the hospital, where he shot and killed a 46-year-old male medical instructor at the academic hospital. He also started fires on both shooting scenes, which have since been put out.
Dutch King Willem-Alexander and his wife, Queen Maxima, have sent their condolences to those affected by the shootings.
The Erasmus Medical Center earlier told visitors to avoid the hospital due to the shootings, but has since told the public they were reopening and resuming operations.
Rotterdam has been plagued with several incidents of shootings and small explosions this year, which were blamed on rival drug gangs, but there was no immediate suggestion Thursday's shooting was linked to drug gang violence.
