‘They’re Overdoing It’: Kelce Brothers Think NFL Overhypes Taylor Swift’s Appearances at Chiefs Games

The football league denies and calls the news a "pop cultural moment."

Both Travis Kelce and his brother Jason feel that the National Football League (NFL) is "overdoing it" on social media in light of the continued interest shown by fans in the rumored relationship between Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs and Taylor Swift, one of the most prominent artists in the world.

The singer has been seen at two of Travis' games with the Chiefs, but neither she nor the athlete have publicly acknowledged their relationship.

'They're Just Trying To Have Fun With It'

The Kelce brothers, Travis and Jason, host a football podcast titled New Heights. On its Wednesday's episode, October 4, Travis remarked, "I think it's fun when they show who was at the game. I think it brings a little bit more to the atmosphere; brings a little bit more to what you're watching. But at the same time..." Jason intervened, "I think they're overdoing it."

Travis agreed, saying, "They're overdoing it a little bit for sure, especially my situation, [but] I think they're just trying to have fun with it."

While Travis plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, Jason is the center for the Philadelphia Eagles.

In a report by CNN, the NFL has defended the ways in which its social media outlets, especially X (previously Twitter), amplified the Swift-Kelce story. One of its online platforms was responsible for at least six tweets on Sunday night, October 1.

"The Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce news has been a pop cultural moment we've leaned into in real-time, as it's an intersection of sport and entertainment, and we've seen an incredible amount of positivity around the sport," it said in a statement.

According to sports retail store Fanatics, purchases of Travis' Chiefs jersey increased by 400% when Swift attended a game for the first time. Variety also found that across all age categories, women were the most likely to tune in to the game.

Swift was seen at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on September 24 with Donna Kelce, the men's mother, and again the following day at MetLife Stadium in New York when the Chiefs beat the New York Jets.

The Time Spent Together in New York City

In a previous report, an insider claims that Swift thinks Travis is "very charming."

Even though their two dates together have been downplayed as "nothing serious," a bond between the Chiefs' star playmaker and the pop star is evident. A week of texting back and forth was presented as evidence of their continued communication by the source.

When Jason appeared on the WIP Morning Show, he said Travis and Swift spent time together in New York City this past summer. Despite the fact that neither Swift nor Travis have acknowledged their connection publicly, Jason has said that the allegations are "100% true."
