Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko claims that the U.S. government is the one triggering Russia to use its nuclear weapons.

This was shared by the Belarusian leader during his visit to a military facility in the Brest region.

Lukashenko made his comments after Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that they could revoke the ratification of a treaty banning nuclear tests.

Is US Triggering Russia's Nuclear Weapons Usage? Belarus President Says Yes

Lukashenko explained that he is getting the impression that the U.S. military is the one pushing Russians to use nuclear weapons. But, he clarified that his statement is his own opinion.

"They arm Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelensky and his army and provide long-range missiles. Even missiles able to fly for 300 km (186 miles)," said the Belarusian president via CNN World.

He warned that if any Russian territory is struck by the long-range missiles provided by the U.S. to Ukraine, Moscow will certainly retaliate.

"One such attack deep into the Russian territory and the response will be colossal. Otherwise, why do we need these (nuclear) weapons for?" added Alexander.

He further stated that the rising tensions between Ukraine, Russia, and the U.S. could lead to a scenario where the Russian government will just "take out the red button and put it on the table."

As of press time, U.S. President Joe Biden is still making efforts to ensure that Ukraine will receive the military and financial aid it needs to fight against the ongoing Russian invasion.

But, the Ukraine assistance faces uncertainty after the ousting of Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

The Associated Press reported that Russia successfully tested an experimental nuclear-powered cruise missile.

This was boasted by Putin on Thursday, Oct. 5. After making the big announcement, the Russian president added that their parliament is considering revoking the global nuclear test ban.

During his speech, Putin said that they effectively completed the development of the Sarmat heavy intercontinental ballistic missile and the Burevestnik cruise missile.

He added that they are already working on these destructive nuclear weapons so they can enter production.

Aside from this, Vladimir Putin also explained that the U.S. government did not ratify the 1996 Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban. He compared it to Russia, which signed and ratified the treaty.

Putin argued that if Russia decided to revoke the global nuclear test ban, it would only mirror the "stand taken by the U.S."
