The most advanced U.S. aircraft carrier is on its way to Israel. U.S. President Joe Biden ordered this military aid after the shocking Hamas attack, which killed hundreds of Israelis.
This was confirmed by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Sunday, Oct. 8, saying that sending aircraft carriers and other military vessels is part of a "show of strength" by the U.S. government in the wake of the Hamas attack.
Joe Biden Sends Most Advanced US Aircraft Carrier to Israel
According to Business Insider's latest report, the U.S. is sending the USS Gerald R. Ford to the Eastern Mediterranean. Aside from navy vessels, Austin announced that more warfare equipment and resources would be sent to Israel.
"In addition, the United States government will be rapidly providing the Israel Defense Forces with additional equipment and resources, including munitions," said the defense official.
NDTV reported that the latest military aid from the U.S. government will boost fighter aircraft squadrons in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
Aside from helping the Middle Eastern country, the military effort is also a way for the U.S. to show its "rock solid" support since it is a major supplier of arms to Israel.
Warfare experts said that by sending advanced vessels and other defense resources, the U.S. can warn other countries to stay out of the ongoing conflict in Israel.
"The leaders also discussed ongoing efforts to ensure that no enemies of Israel believe they can or should seek advantage from the current situation," said the White House in a recent statement.
Consequences of Helping Israel
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned that by helping Israel in its war against the Hamas group, the U.S. government is putting the lives of Americans at risk.
As of writing, it is unclear if Americans are among those who are being killed or taken hostage in Israel. But, U.S. officials said that they are already working to confirm if the said reports are true.
Numerous sources claimed that Israel's Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Herzog confirmed that there are American hostages. During an interview, Herzog explained that he don't have specific details regarding American casualties.
He added that he wasn't able to identify the exact number of Americans who were killed or taken hostage by the Hamas group. But, Herzog believes that there could be dozens in the hands of the terrorist organization.
As of press time, the U.S. government is working overtime to verify how many Americans were killed in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
