Apple's virtual reality Vision headset could include prescription lenses during shipping for visually impaired users who buy the product.

The first-generation Vision Pro comes with the company's solution for glasses-wearing customers: to stock optional Zeiss-made lenses in its retail stores. However, this created problems with managing the supply and turning its electronics store into a health provider.

Apple's New Vision Headset

One of the issues of the situation is how fraught tying a product to a custom display could be because prescriptions can change with time. Additionally, it would limit the ability to share the headset or resell it to other people.

The tech giant has almost certainly already thought about the issues and has filed patents as recently as August that show it is interested in making a VR or AR display that can be adjusted to correct the user's vision.

This would keep the global company from adding a new barrier to entry to a product that is already considered relatively expensive. The latest development could also benefit customers who do not realize they have bad vision when they first purchase a new VR headset, as per The Verge.

Including prescription lenses in Apple's Vision headset will eliminate the need for users to wear their glasses or struggle with compatibility issues. Integrating the feature from the manufacturing process also highlights the company's commitment to inclusivity and customer-centric design.

The VR headset product is also anticipated to offer a seamless and immersive augmented reality experience. It would enable users to enjoy a clear virtual worldview without compromising visual acuity.

The latest decision suggests that Apple aims to broaden its Vision headset's user base to cater to a diverse audience. The provision of prescription lenses addresses a prevalent concern and sets a new standard for wearable AR devices, according to Ticker News.

These include Meta's Quest 3, its product in the virtual reality headset game that would cost an estimated $500 for the 128GB version. The company said its new product features breakthrough mixed reality, enabling a spectrum of experiences.

Quest 3 is said to have double the graphic processing power of Quest 2 and is the world's first device to feature the new Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 platform. Meta helped develop the latter in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies.

The virtual reality headset's load times are lightning-fast and provide incredible crisp details in immersive games that defy expectations. The company added that the Quest 3's 4K+ Infinite Display achieves a nearly 30% leap in resolution compared to its predecessor.

Users can enjoy 25 pixels per degree and 1,218 pixels per inch for the best resolution across the Quest line. The newest version's visuals are so spectacular that users want to reach out and touch the world around them.

The company also redesigned Quest 3's body with a thinner profile, more customizable fit, and balanced weight distribution than the Quest 2. This provides maximum comfort whenever it is being used, said Meta.
