Maison DesChamps, also known as "Pro-Life Spiderman," was arrested after he decided to climb the Accenture Tower in Chicago on Tuesday, Oct. 10.
Police officials were able to detain the anti-abortion activist after he completed his 588-foot building climb stunt. But, he explained that there's a good reason why he did the dangerous "publicity stunt."
Pro-Life Spiderman's 588-Foot Building Stunt Leads to His Arrest
DesChamps reportedly started climbing the Accenture Tower around 9:45 a.m. local time. Unfortunately, officers were already waiting for him at the top of the 40-story building.
The Daily Mail UK reported that Pro-Life Spiderman did his spine-tingling stunt to help a mother of two who recently found herself unexpectedly pregnant.
DesChamps said that he was hoping to raise money for the charity group "Let Them Live," as well as to help the mother named Sierra to have a choice about her unborn child.
Although his intent was good, some pro-abortion people criticized his dangerous stunt. These include Chicago Abortion Fund's Movement Building Director Alicia Hurtado.
"The organization being amplified by this dangerous stunt is the antithesis of reproductive justice," she explained.
"And we instead hope that this moment is used to amplify groups on the ground that are standing up for bodily autonomy for all," she added via Yahoo News.
Other Details of DesChamps' Latest Stunt
Many people in the Accenture Tower were able to record videos of DesChamps while he was climbing to the top. Of course, the anti-abortion activist climber also livestreamed his stunt.
He even opened a can of "Woke-Free" beer Ultra Right after reaching the top, confirming that the beverage company sponsored his stunt.
But, DesChamps' happy moment didn't last since the Chicago Police Department arrested him right after.
Police authorities described Pro-Life Spiderman as an offender. They said that charges against Maison are still pending and no other information is available at the moment.
This is not the first time that Maison DesChamps has been arrested. In May, he was also detained after climbing San Franciso's Salesforce Tower.
After that, he continued his hobby. He even managed to climb the New York Times building, which led to a police complaint.
In his other building climbing stunts, such as the Devon Tower in Oklahoma, he had been arrested as well. Despite all the police reports against him, DesChamps is still committed to help the anti-abortion movement.
In one of his stunts, he hung a sign that read "Abortion Kills More Than 911 Every Week!"
