According to the Chinese defense ministry, China and India started their 20th round of military chief-level discussions on October 9 and 10.

Based on the ministry, the two sides engaged in "active, in-depth, and constructive" communications regarding the "early and acceptable" resolution of the remaining issues in the western section of the China-India border, as per to Reuters.

India and China Maintain Commitment to Peaceful Resolution in Border Talks

In the ongoing effort to resolve border disputes and maintain peace along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Western Sector, India and China have continued their diplomatic and military negotiations.

While no explicit breakthrough was reported, both nations affirmed their commitment to a mutually acceptable resolution and preserving peace in the border regions. The recent round of Corps Commander-level talks took place at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting point on the Indian side of the LAC.

These discussions build upon the progress made during the last round of talks held on August 13-14, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the momentum of dialogue. In a statement, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted the discussions' frank, open, and constructive nature.

The two sides engaged in candid exchanges of views to expedite a resolution of the remaining issues along the LAC. These dialogues adhere to the guidance provided by the national leadership of both India and China.

The MEA's statement further underlined the commitment of both countries to sustain peace and tranquility on the ground in the border areas while negotiations continue.

This commitment to peaceful coexistence is critical, given that Indian and Chinese troops have been involved in a standoff in specific friction points in eastern Ladakh for over three years.

Although some disengagement has been achieved in various areas, these discussions are integral to achieving a comprehensive and lasting resolution to the conflict, according to Outlook.

Complex Diplomatic and Military Talks in China-India Border Dispute

The ongoing border dispute has prompted both nations to engage in extensive diplomatic and military talks to de-escalate tensions and disengage from sensitive areas.

These negotiations have been marked by their complexity, with both sides demonstrating a solid commitment to safeguarding their national interests while seeking a mutually acceptable solution.

The recent dialogue has focused on the Western Sector, a point of contention in the China-India border dispute. Both sides are willing to engage in active, in-depth, and constructive communications to address the remaining issues.

While the talks did not produce an immediate breakthrough, the fact that India and China maintain their dialogue is a positive sign. Diplomatic and military channels remain open, providing a platform for ongoing negotiations. This consistent engagement underscores the desire of both nations to find a resolution that is acceptable to both parties.

The border dispute between India and China is a complex and long standing issue. Still, it is encouraging to see that they are committed to peaceful negotiations and dialogue as they work towards a resolution.

Maintaining peace and tranquility in the border areas is a shared goal, and continued efforts in this direction will be vital for regional stability.

Although no significant breakthrough has been reported, the fact that both countries keep the lines of communication open is an important step forward in resolving the border issues along the Line of Actual Control, Bloomberg reported.
