Bruce Willis' close friend and 'Moonlighting' creator Glenn Gordon Caron gives an update on the actor's health as he fights frontotemporal dementia.

Caron recently revealed to the New York Post that he tries to meet up with the 'Die Hard' actor approximately once a month and that he still believes Willis recognizes him when he comes to visit, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

Bruce Willis' Deteriorating Condition

Caron, who directed the hit ABC series from 1985 to 1989, expressed his happiness at the show's availability on Hulu. He revealed that even though Bruce Willis cannot express his excitement due to his deteriorating condition, he knows the actor is thrilled about it.

Caron had the opportunity to discuss the show's revival with Willis before his condition worsened, and he is confident that it holds special significance for the actor. The process of getting 'Moonlighting' on Hulu was a lengthy one, and Willis' disease is progressive. Caron could communicate with him while he still had some verbal ability.

He emphasized that this series means a lot to Bruce Willis, who became an icon through his role as the snarky 'Blue Moon Detective Agency' employee, David Addison.

Caron also touched on his efforts to stay connected with Willis. He tries to visit the actor every month and maintains a casual relationship with Willis' wife, Emma Heming Willis, and their three older children.

Caron spoke fondly of Bruce Willis, describing him as an extraordinary person known for his boundless "joie de vivre." He emphasized how the stark contrast between the actor's past exuberance and his present state is mind-blowing, according to New York Post.

Bruce Willis' Resilience Amid Dementia Battle

Caron also shared his observations about Willis during their visits. During the first one to three minutes of their encounters, Caron believes that Willis recognizes him. However, the disease has robbed him of his language skills, making him non-verbal.

The 'Moonlighting' creator mentioned that Willis used to be a voracious reader, a fact he tried to keep hidden from the public, but now even his ability to read has been taken from him. Despite these challenges, Caron emphasized that Bruce Willis is still unmistakably himself, which comforts those who care about him.

The news of Bruce Willis' health decline was first revealed in February 2022, when his family announced his diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia. This announcement came nearly a year after disclosing that he would be stepping away from acting due to an initial aphasia diagnosis.

Since the report of his condition, Caron has tried to maintain a connection with his longtime friend, a testament to their strong bond. Emma Heming Willis has also raised awareness about dementia. She frequently uses her social media platforms to host Instagram live chats with health experts and caregivers, advocating for those affected by this cruel disease.

The couple, married since 2009, share two young children, Mabel and Evelyn, while Willis has three older children from his first marriage to Demi Moore.

While the actor's condition has taken away his ability to communicate and read, the 'Moonlighting' series continues to remind him of the lively spirit that once defined Bruce Willis, The Independent reported.
