Israel denied rumors claiming that it opened a humanitarian corridor for foreigners.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clarified that they don't have any assistance or cease-fire for foreign nationals who are currently caught up in the ongoing war.
Here's what Netanyahu specifically said in his latest announcement, which was released on Oct. 16, via the official Prime Minister's Office website.
Israel Denies Opening Humanitarian Corridor for Foreigners
According to CNBC's latest report, some people claim that the Israeli government is allowing foreign nationals to evacuate the Gaza Strip via Egypt's Rafah crossing.
These rumors appeared while over 600 American passport holders and other foreign nationals remained trapped in the blockaded enclave while the Israel Defense Forces continued to bombard Gaza.
Now, Netanyahu finally commented on these rumors; denying claims about the alleged humanitarian corridor for foreigners.
"There is currently no cease-fire and humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip in exchange for the expulsion of foreigners," said Netanyahu the Prime Minister's Office's official website.
Aside from Netanyahu, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry also clarified that the Israeli government hasn't allowed the opening of the Rafah border, which is considered to be the only exit point out of the Gaza Strip.
IDF Recently Announced New 'Safe Passage'
Yahoo Finance reported that the Israel Defense Forces announced a new safe passage that will allow Gazan residents to move to the south of the territory.
IDF officials said that they will not bombard this new safe corridor between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. local time on Monday, Oct. 16.
They added that this designated axis will allow safe evacuation from north Gaza to the area south of Wadi Gaza and Khan Yunis. But, it didn't clarify the exact location of the safe corridor.
Ever since the Israeli government forced Gazan residents to follow its mass evacuation command, IDF has been making the same announcements; urging civilians to move to ensure their safety.
Reports stated that over 600,000 Palestinian residents were able to leave the northern Gaza Strip. However, IDF authorities clarified that safe passage doesn't mean that there will be a cease-fire.
This means that even if Gazan civilians use these designated Axis routes, they are still at risk of getting bombarded. You can click this link to learn more about the ongoing Israel-Gaza war.
