The U.S. Marines (also known as the U.S. Marine Corps.) and the Pentagon are now deploying thousands of American troops to Israel.

US Marines, Pentagon Send Thousands of American Troops

Two American defense officials, who claim that they are familiar with the rapid response force of the Pentagon and the U.S. Marines, claim that around 2,000 Marines and other U.S. troops are being sent to Israel.

Yahoo News reported that these American forces are headed toward the coast of Israel. Previously, two U.S. aircraft carriers were already deployed by the U.S. government to the Middle Eastern country.

These are specifically the USS Gerald R. Ford, which arrived on Tuesday, Oct. 17, and the USS Eisenhower, which departed the United States on Oct. 14. As of press time, it is unclear if the deployed U.S. troops will join one of these carrier strike groups.

Before the two anonymous officials shared the information they acquired, multiple defense authorities already revealed that U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin ordered roughly 2,000 troops to prepare on Sunday, Oct. 15.

They claim that Austin wants these American soldiers to be ready in case of a mass deployment to Israel in order to help with non-combat tasks, such as logistic support and medical assistance, as reported by CNN.

With the newest details shared by the two defense officials and the previous rumors being aligned, there's a high chance that the U.S. Marines and Pentagon are really deploying thousands of American troops to Israel.

In a recent 60-minute interview, U.S. President Joe Biden claimed that the U.S. will provide all necessary aid to Israel. However, the American leader said that American troops were not among them.

POTUS argued that Israel already has one of the finest fighting forces in the country. Biden's statement was also the same as John Kirby, the spokesman of the National Security Council.

"There's no plans or intentions to put US troops on the ground to fight in this fight between Israel and Hamas," said Kirby.

However, the NSC official clarified that they are still considering deploying American troops for rescue operations to save hostages and civilians caught up in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
