Hamas's armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades has announced the death of its senior commander Ayman Nofal on Tuesday (October 17) after he was killed by an Israeli air strike.
In a statement, the terror group said the strike hit the Bureij refugee camp, where the commander, also known as "Abu Ahmad" was suspected to be located.
The Israel Defense Force (IDF) has yet to comment on the apparent assassination.

According to the Associated Press, Nofal was in charge of Hamas militant activities in the central Gaza region and was associated with the creation of the group's "joint operations" room that coordinated between Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other militants in the territory.
He was reportedly the highest-ranking Hamas militant to be killed so far.
