For the past ten years Gaza residents have lived with constant power shortages, in recent years these cuts have worsened, with the supply of regular power limited to four hours a day.

Finally, the Biden Administration announced Hamas sanctions, which will also target other Middle East-based terrorist groups, such as Hezbollah.

The U.S. government announced these punishments against Hamas terrorists and other terror organizations while U.S. President Joe Biden was visiting Israel.

Biden Admin Announces Hamas Sanctions

According to Fox Business, the U.S. government announced new sanctions on Wednesday, Oct. 18, against 1,000 entities and individuals who are supporting Iran's terrorism.

Aside from them, the restrictions will also include 10 senior members and financial facilitators of the Hamas militant group. These senior terrorist supporters are allegedly located in Gaza, Algeria, Sunda, and Qatar. Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen said that the affected terrorist groups were part of a massive financial network for terrorism.

"The United States is taking swift and decisive action to target Hamas' financiers and facilitators following its brutal and unconscionable massacre of Israeli civilians, including children," she explained.

She warned Hamas and other Middle East-based terrorist organizations that the U.S. Treasury has a long history of effective terror finance disrupting tactics.
Yellen added that they will not hesitate to use their effective tools to sanction these terrorists if they continue their deadly attacks.

"We will continue to take all steps necessary to deny Hamas terrorists the ability to raise and use funds to carry out atrocities and terrorize the people of Israel," stated Janet.

Specifically, the latest U.S. sanctions against Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorist organizations will track, seize, and freeze Hamas-related assets around the world.

The Associated Press reported that U.S. Treasury officials plan to travel to the Middle East to further sanctions against terrorist groups and their supporters.

This detail was confirmed by Treasury Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo. The possible visit of Treasury officials comes while Joe Biden made his risky Israel visit.

U.S. Treasury Under Secretary Brian Nelson (for terrorism and illicit finance) also shared his comments regarding the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

On Tuesday, Oct. 17, Nelson said that the United States is renewing its plans to target Hamas funding streams. He also urged American allies and the private sector to do the same.

Nelson warned that if they don't sanction the funding activities of Hamas terrorists, they should be prepared to suffer the consequences.
