Ex-Trump attorney Sidney Powell pleads guilty in the Georgia election interference case. She decided to do this just one day before her trial.
Powell is among the 19 co-defendants who are being accused of trying to overturn the 2020 election loss of former U.S. President Donald Trump in Georgia.
But, what does her guilty plea mean for Trump and other remaining defendants? Here are the latest details you must know.
Ex-Trump Attorney Sidney Powell Pleads Guilty
According to CNN Politics, the last-second guilty plea made by Sidney Powell surprised many officials as it drastically changed the trial, which was supposed to begin on Friday, Oct. 20.
In her guilty plea, Powell admitted that she played a role in the January 2021 breach of election systems in rural County Coffee, Georgia.
This means that she says yes to allegations claiming that she was involved in a scheme of unlawfully breaching election equipment; and tampering with voting machines.
Sidney Powell is the second person to plead guilty in the ongoing Georgia election interference case. The first one who did this was bail bondsman Scott Hall.
Fulton County prosecutors are already recommending a sentence of six years probation against the former campaign attorney of Donald Trump. She will be required to testify as the Georgia election fraud case continues.
Aside from this, she needs to write an apology letter to residents in the U.S. state, pay almost $9,000 in restitution and fines, as well as turn over documents.

Sidney Powell Faces Other Legal Challenges
Although Sidney Powell already pleaded guilty, she will still face other legal challenges beyond the Georgia case. These include the massive defamation lawsuits she's facing from two voting tech firms.
These companies sued her for falsely accusing them of rigging the recent U.S. election against Trump. As of press time, the lawsuits filed by Smartmatic and Dominion Voting Systems are still in the pre-trial discovery phase.
Another problem she has to deal with is being an unindicted co-conspirator in the federal election subversion case that special counsel Jack Smith filed against ex-POTUS.
What This Means for Trump
CNBC reported that the latest plea guilty made by Sidney Powell could drastically affect Donald Trump and the remaining 17 co-defendants in the ongoing election interference case in Georgia.
Since Powell and Scott Hall already admitted their crimes, there's a chance that other defendants could also be pressured to do the same.
If the majority of them plead guilty in this case, it would certainly be bad news for Donald Trump.
