Due to "dangerous behavior" by some students, a university's Students' Union has banned blue shirts and chinos.
The Wednesday's party night, Yolo, hosted by the Cardiff University Students' Union (CUSU), said that anyone wearing the outfit—which is normally associated with sports clubs—would be denied admittance.
This comes after a group of male students engaged in "reckless, dangerous, and incredibly irresponsible" behavior on October 4 while waiting in line for the union, as reported by BBC.
Male students participating in sports groups across the nation now wear shirts and chinos as their unofficial uniform; the only way to tell which club they belong to is by their distinctive ties or shirt colors. When participating in sports socials at the SU, students frequently wear this ensemble.
The Students' Union stated: "The behavior displayed by the group in question can only be described as reckless, dangerous, and incredibly irresponsible" in an email written to members of the university's Athletic Union and obtained by the BBC.
The Students' Union said that since the restriction went into effect, there has been a "marked improvement in queue behavior."
"If any group knows who the males were that caused this incident, I advise the committee to approach Athletic Union staff and the matter can be dealt with," the message said.
"Whilst we understand that this approach might not be favourable with all, until we are confident that those behaviours have been rooted out, we will continue with this restriction."
Cardiff University said that the Students' Union or the Athletic Union should make any comments on the subject.
The Cardiff University sports clubs are supported by the Athletic Union, which is a component of the SU. You can participate in athletic competitions on behalf of the institution after you join.
Although the identity of the perpetrators of the event is now unknown, the email was received by all members of the Athletic Union, including those who play hockey and rugby.

The Protection of Jewish Students
In other news, the Union demands increased protections for Jewish students studying at UK institutions as well.
After a spike in abuse reports to the hotline, the Union of Jewish Students urges a "zero tolerance" policy to support Hamas.
Since the commencement of the Israel-Hamas conflict, the Union of Jewish Students has seen an increase in reports of threats and other forms of harassment. The organization has written to UK student unions and university vice-chancellors to request better security and assistance for Jewish students.
The group urges student unions in particular to adopt a "zero tolerance" stance toward any indications of sympathy for Hamas, which was behind the assaults in southern Israel on October 7 that resulted in the deaths of more than 1,400 people, largely Israeli civilians, and the kidnapping of 200 hostages.
