There have been at least 2,000 children murdered in Gaza in recent weeks amid the conflict between Israel and the Hamas militant group, according to a humanitarian organization. Doctors in Gaza have warned that many more infants and injured adults may die soon due to the Israeli embargo on fuel, prompting aid organizations to appeal for a ceasefire.
After 1,400 people, primarily civilians, were murdered and over 200 were held captive in terror assaults and kidnappings on October 7, the Israeli government promised to completely destroy Hamas.
Appeal for Children's Safety
Israeli bombings have ruined whole neighborhoods in Gaza, destroying hospitals, houses, schools, and mosques. Whole streets in the al-Rimal district of Gaza City were torn down, and a stretch of buildings known as the al-Zahra towers in central Gaza were also completely demolished, as shown in a CNN drone video from Monday, October 23.
Save the Children released a statement on Monday declaring that over a million kids are "trapped" in Gaza with nowhere to flee. It added the lack of access to medicine and electricity for health facilities in the enclave would have terrible effects.
The aid group said that at least 2,000 children had been murdered in Gaza over the course of the previous 17 days, with another 27 having been slain in the West Bank.
"We call on all parties to take immediate steps to protect the lives of children, and on the international community to support those efforts," Save the Children said.
At least 5,087 people, including 2,055 children, have been killed as a direct consequence of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, which is run by Hamas.
Ashraf Al-Qudra, a spokesperson for the health ministry, said in a separate statement, "The health system [in Gaza] has reached the worst stage in its history."

Fuel Required for Survival
In Gaza, fuel is essential to survival. No water can be pumped or desalinated without fuel, and hospitals cannot keep incubators, ventilators, dialysis machines, and sterilization equipment working without fueling their generators. Israeli airstrikes and a lack of fuel have rendered 12 hospitals and 32 clinics in Gaza inoperable, according to CNN.
Despite the urgency, no gasoline trucks have entered Gaza as part of a humanitarian relief convoy from Egypt's Rafah border crossing over the weekend. Israel has consistently claimed that Hamas would only steal gasoline for its own military purposes, including rocket launches.
Israel would not let gasoline into Gaza even if all captives are freed, Mark Regev, a senior advisor to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said on Monday, as reported by CNN.
"At the moment we have no interest in more fuel going to the Hamas military machine and we have not authorized fuel, we have authorized medicine, we have authorized water. We've authorized foodstuffs, we've not authorized anything else," Regev explained.
