The Israel Defense Force (IDF) announced on Friday (October 27) that they had assassinated Madhat Mubasher, commander of Hamas's West Khan Yunis battalion, in an airstrike into Gaza on Thursday night (October 26).
The IDF added that the latest airstrike also hit 250 other Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, the Jerusalem Post reported. Among the targets hit by the airstrikes included terrorist tunnels, operational headquarters, and rocket launchers.

An IDF spokesperson also reported a Skylark drone crashing inside Gaza due to technical malfunction but assured reporters that there was no fear of information leaking as investigations continue.
Mubasher "took part in sniping attacks and the use of large explosives [used] against IDF troops and Israeli towns," the IDF added.

A Third IDF Raid
Meanwhile, the IDF also reported that infantry, engineers, and armor conducted a raid in central Gaza on Thursday night, hitting Hamas targets such as anti-tank missile launchers and command facilities.
No injuries from the Israeli side were reported.
The raid is the third in a series of operations the IDF conducted in preparation for a much-anticipated ground invasion of Gaza.
