Taylor Swift just reached the billionaire status, adding even another achievement to her already impressive record!
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which tracks the wealth of the world's richest people, Swift's record-breaking The Eras Tour this summer contributed an estimated $1.1 billion to her fortune. Bloomberg said Swift is one of the few performers to achieve that level on the strength of her songs and performances alone.
An 'Economic Phenomenon'
In an earlier interview, Chris Leyden, director of growth marketing at SeatGeek, said Swift's Eras tour is "rewriting the playbook of entertainment economics." He added, "She's not just a performer - she's an economic phenomenon."
Swift has not only sold out stadiums the size of Super Bowls but also cinema theaters around the world. AMC said the concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour made around $96 million in its first weekend in the United States and Canada, as reported by CNN.
In August, research company QuestionPro exclusively shared poll data with CNN, estimating that the Eras tour might make $2.2 billion in North American ticket sales. Those record-breaking numbers include sales for both the North American leg Swift recently finished in Los Angeles and the second North American leg she will go on in 2024. If such were the case, the tour would break all previous records for revenue.
The California Center for Jobs and the Economy anticipated that Swift's last six nights of her Eras tour in Los Angeles would add $320 million to the city's economy, according to CNN.
As a result of her widespread popularity, the singer was able to increase her already considerable financial standing. There was an increase in public transportation use and hotel bookings in cities where Swift played.
Even the National Football League (NFL) is getting some attention because of her recent entanglement with Travis Kelce, an American football player for the Kansas City Chiefs. Ticket prices for an October 1 game of the Kansas City Chiefs have risen by more than 40%, from $83 to $119, after news of the Swift's possible attendance spread.
