Apple is rumored to be planning the release of its new OLED iPad Pro in the first quarter of next year based on the predictions of analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
The analyst noted that the tech giant will release a 10.9-inch iPad Air and a new 12.9-inch version of the iPad Air next year. He noted that the latter will not get the mini-LED display that is used by the Pro but will have an oxide backplane.
Apple's Rumored OLED iPad Pro
Kuo also said that he expects there will be two M3 models of the iPad Pro that will be released next year. He added that both of these versions will trade the mini LED display for an OLED one and will use the iPhone 15 Pro's LTPO backplane.
He added that there could also be a new 11th generation of the standard iPad as well as a new iPad mini that would arrive during the second half of 2024. Kuo notes that employees who are returning to the office as well as structural change in how users use the device for entertainment and productivity have caused a decline in demand, as per PC Mag.
Kuo said that iPad shipments were expected to be around 52 to 54 million units in 2024, an increase from this year's 50 million. However, that number is still significantly lower than the 63 million units that were shipped in 2022.
The analyst's thoughts on Apple's iPad Pro mirror what was reported back in August by Bloomberg Apple reporter Mark Gurman. At the time, the latter said that the tablets could also potentially have a revamped Magic Keyboard with a larger trackpad. This would make the tablet work even better as a laptop replacement.
Jyo suggested in October that the new iPads would arrive in the first quarter of next year and Gurman said that the launch would likely happen around March. The rumored release is expected to come as the rest of the iPad lineup is due for upgrades as well.
The rumored release of the new OLED iPad Pro next year comes as Apple has not released a new iPad in the last year, according to Engadget. The rumors come as there are plenty of users who are looking forward to getting their hands on an OLED iPad Pro.

Upgrade From LCD Screens
This is because LCDs on some devices sometimes look off when viewed from an angle as compared to an OLED screen. While this does not do much when reading, it is particularly annoying when playing a game or watching a movie.
On top of that, OLED would open up a version of the iPhone's StandBy mode that turns the device into a true blue smart display. Gurman previously called the potential release of the OLED iPad Pro next year as the "first major overhaul in half a decade."
Kuo noted that the rumored two devices that will be released next year would use the same LTPO tech that gives both Apple Watches and newer iPhones their 1Hz to 120Hz variable refresh rate, said The Verge.
