China Launches World's Fastest Internet—Claiming Network Can Send 150 4K Videos in 1 Second!

Beijing claims the new network can send 150 4K videos in less than a second!

China launched what could be the world's fastest internet network. Beijing officials claim that their new broadband network is so fast that it could send over hundreds of 4K movies in less than a second.

This new super-advanced connectivity technology was built by China Mobile Ltd. and Huawei Technologies Co. The two giant tech firms worked with Tsinghua University, as well as research provider Cernet.com Corp.

But, the question is, how fast is China's new internet network? Here's what Beijing claims.

Via The Straits Times, the Tsinghua University researchers said that the internet's trials began on July 31. After that, the connectivity network passed various tests verifying its speed and effectiveness.

The university involved Chinese tech firms, and Beijing officials all claimed that their new internet network is the first one to achieve a stable and reliable bandwidth of 1.2 terabits per second.

If you will compare this with other major internet services in the U.S. and other countries, China's new broadband network is allegedly 10 times faster.

China said that the world's fastest internet is a 3,000-km broadband network linking Beijing to the south. The Tsinghua University-the alma mater of Chinese President Xi Jinping-said that their internet project is an industry-first built entirely on China's technology.

The First Post reported that since the new Chinese internet network is claimed to transmit 1.2 terabits per second, that means it can send up to 150 videos (in 4K) in less than a second.

This also means that it has the capability to send all of Netflix's global content, without any issue, in less than an hour. If what China claims about its new broadband technology is true, then Beijing definitely exceeded global expectations.

The trial results acquired by Huawei Technologies Co. and China Mobile Ltd. defy most industry predictions, such as the expectation for 1 terabit per second ultra-high-speed networks to arrive around 2025.

There's no denying that the results showed by China's 3,000-km internet network are astounding. However, it could also lead to global concerns, especially since China is known for spreading disinformation.

But, it is still too early to conclude how the Asian super country will use the new broadband technology. Only time will tell if China's ultra-fast internet network will be used for good or for bad.
