A new poll revealed that almost 50% of Russians want Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the Ukraine invasion.
Experts who conducted the survey claimed that these Russian citizens possibly outnumber those who support Russia's attacks in Ukraine.
The Russian Field company was the one that conducted the poll; calling thousands of Russians between Oct. 21 and Oct. 29. Here's what their latest survey revealed.
[POLL] Almost 50% of Russians Want Putin to Stop Ukraine Invasion
According to The Straits Times' latest report, the Russian Field talked to 1,611 Russians via telephone.
Based on the survey's findings, around 48% of respondents said that the Russian government should send the war to Ukraine and negotiate a peace deal.
On the other hand, roughly 39% of surveyees said that they support Vladimir Putin in pressing on with the invasion of the European country.
The Russian Field's survey also showed that three-quarters of Russian participants said they would definitely support Putin if he signs a peace accord anytime this 2023. This is higher compared to the record in September 2022.
Aside from Russians wanting to end the Russia-Ukraine war, the new poll also showed that concerns about future drafting are on the rise; over 58% said that they will oppose Russia conducting a second mobilization.
Although the survey's findings that Russians who want to end the war are higher than those who support the invasion, experts said that Vladimir Putin is unlikely to listen to their pleas.
This is because the Russian ruler has shown no interest in ending the war ever since it began in February 2022. Vladimir instead wants to further push Ukrainian troops in order to take their land, despite the Russian military suffering from huge casualties.
More Russians Want to End War Based on Other Surveys
Aside from the poll conducted by the Russian Field Company, Newsweek recently reported that another poll was published by Russia's Levada Center; an independent research organization.
Based on this recent survey, around 70% of Russians are urging Vladimir Putin to end the invasion of Ukraine.
However, this number decreased to 34% if ending the war means that Russia has to return territories it has occupied and annexed since the invasion began.
This just shows that many Russians who want to end the war also want the acquired territories to remain under the country's rule.
