Prosecutors had requested a minimum sentence of 40 years, as Armstrong would be eligible for parole after serving half or 30 years, whichever comes first. During the sentencing, Wilson's friend and mother, Karen Wilson, addressed Armstrong directly, condemning her actions as "selfish and cowardly."
