The Israel-Hamas ceasefire has been confirmed by both sides' leaders. This means that hostages will be released and the pursuit against terrorists will be halted.
On Wednesday, Nov. 22, the Israeli Prime Minister's office announced that they voted to approve the temporary ceasefire, which includes the release of 50 hostages by Hamas terrorists.
These hostages include children and women; they are expected to be released over four days when the war pause starts in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli, Hamas Leaders Agree to Four-Day Ceasefire
According to Fox News' latest report, Israel and Hamas agreed on the temporary cease-fire for humanitarian purposes. Their decision was confirmed hours after the militant leaders said that negotiations were in their final stages.
Qatari negotiators also helped to close the deal between the Israeli government and the Palestinian militant organization. In the four-day ceasefire, Israel agreed to stop its pursuit of Hamas.
This means that the ground invasion and airstrikes of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will be halted. Specifically, aerial surveillance by Israel in the south of Gaza will be paused for four days.
Meanwhile, aerial surveillance in the north of the Gaza Strip will be halted from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. local time during the ceasefire.
Israel promised that no one would be attacked or arrested in all areas of the Gaza Strip during the war pause. Aside from this, humanitarian aid will also be allowed to enter Gaza.
The ceasefire is expected to allow around 300 aid trucks to enter the Gaza Strip from Egypt each day during the four-day pause.
1:3 Hostage Release From Hamas, Israel
The Guardian reported hostages will be the top priority during the Israel-Hamas ceasefire. Israeli government officials said that 50 hostages will be released by Hamas.
Meanwhile, the IDF will also release prisoners in exchange. Groups of 12 to 13 hostages are expected to be released per day.
"Tonight, the Government has approved the outline of the first stage of achieving this goal, according to which at least 50 hostages - women and children - will be released over four days," said the Prime Minister's office.
"The release of every additional ten hostages will result in one additional day in the pause," it added.
However, since the hostage release will be a 1:3 ratio, Israel is expected to release a total of 150 Palestinians in exchange for the 50 hostages that Hamas will release.
