Jin, the eldest member, set a precedent by enlisting last year, followed by J-Hope in April and SUGA in September. RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook are embarking on their military journeys.

All non-disabled men in South Korea are obligated to serve at least 18 months, and the group's label has called on fans for continued love and support during this period.

Before their hiatus in June last year, BTS achieved remarkable success, securing six No. 1 hits on the US Hot 100 chart. The seven-member boy band, known for their exceptional musical talents and charismatic performances, also achieved individual success with solo tracks, topping charts and solidifying their global impact.

Since its debut in 2013, BTS has been credited with generating billions of dollars for South Korea, elevating the country's soft power and cultural influence worldwide. Their achievements include speaking at the United Nations and meeting US President Joe Biden at the White House, highlighting their unique position as cultural ambassadors.

The decision to enlist BTS in mandatory military service sparked a years-long debate about whether the group deserved an exemption. The chairman of the band's agency, Bang Si-hyuk, voiced concerns earlier this year, stating that mandatory military service was impeding the global growth of K-pop.

Despite their immense contributions to South Korea's cultural landscape, K-pop stars, including BTS, are not eligible for exemptions under the existing program, according to South China Morning Post.

BTS Renewed Contracts

In the fiercely competitive world of K-pop, where artists can be swiftly replaced, male stars often face challenges in resuming their careers after fulfilling military duties. However, in September, BTS's agency, Hybe, announced that all seven members had renewed their contracts, hinting at the group's intention to stay together even after completing military service.

As fans brace for the hiatus, there is a silver lining in the form of an upcoming BTS docuseries, "BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star." This eight-part series, set to premiere on Disney+, chronicles the group's remarkable 10-year career. From their humble beginnings to conquering international award shows and speaking at the United Nations, the docuseries promises an intimate look at the challenges and triumphs of BTS's journey.

"BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star" will delve into the personal side of the group, exploring their initial meeting, experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the camaraderie that has defined their years together.

The series will premiere with two episodes on December 20, followed by additional episodes released every Wednesday, each with a unique theme, such as "Adolescence," "Pursuit of Happiness," and "Promise For Tomorrow."

As BTS takes a temporary step back from the spotlight to fulfill their military duties, the docuseries offers fans a nostalgic journey through the group's history, providing solace and a sense of connection during their hiatus. The global fanbase eagerly anticipates the group's return and the continuation of their unparalleled impact on the world stage, CBS News reported.
