Walt Disney's "Wish"—a new unique film combining 2D and 3D animations—is being criticized not only for its appearance but also for its villain song.
For the past few years, many movies created by Walt Disney Animation Studios have been popular because of their entertaining storylines and life lessons.
After hearing Magnifico's song, many fans posted older villain songs, such as "Hellfire," "Be Prepared," "Friends on the Other Side," "Mother Knows Best," and other iconic villain songs.
Does this mean that fans' standards for villain songs are too high? Disney experts said that for the past decades, Walt Disney Animation Studios has been setting a "high bar" when it comes to films, especially villain songs.
Because of this, fans expected that the "Wish" movie would have another villain that could touch their souls.
"You grow up in this culture of, like, Hades and Ursula and Maleficent and those sorts of villains ... and these new villains are introduced, they just don't do it for you," said Prof. Lindsay Hahn from the University of Buffalo.
However, this doesn't mean that people should treat the new Disney film like garbage. Some movie experts said that Disney is just giving what younger generations want.
This means that kids today have different perspectives compared to what older generations had when they were young. Besides, Magnifico already said that he only wants "a little bit of respect."
