Police in Macomb, Michigan are investigating how a dead man's body ended up in the ventilation system of a local community college in the area over the weekend.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the body was identified as 36-year-old Jason Thompson of Clinton Township. He was found on Sunday night (November 26) while Macomb Community College maintenance personnel were looking for the source of a terrible smell at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts in Clinton, north of Detroit.
"There is no reason to suspect foul play," Macomb College Police Chief William Leavens said. "At this point, it is important to remember that this an ongoing investigation, with the goal to understand the circumstances."
However, police did not offer speculation about how Thompson's body ended up in the ventilation system or how long it had been there.
Thompson was reported as missing since November 1 and was last seen by his family a few days earlier on October 25. The community college also said that it offered its condolences to Thompson's family despite him not being affiliated with them.

Remembering Jason Thompson
According to Newsweek, the Macomb County medical examiner's office said they were working to determine the cause of Thompson's death.
In the aftermath of Thompson's death, a GoFundMe fundraiser was launched by a certain Clarissa Longo, who said she was Thompson's cousin. She was seeking to help his family pay for his funeral, with any leftover money to be put into a trust fund for Thompson's two children.
"Jason was loved by many people and his family has been through a lot over the past month while he has been missing," Longo said. "Jason was a father to two beautiful children, Killian and Kiara. He was a son, brother, uncle, cousin, but most [importantly] he was loved by his family and friends and will be missed."
The fundraiser has a $15,000 target and currently stands at $1,420 as of Tuesday morning (November 28).
