Shootings at a bus stop close to Jerusalem on Thursday morning, November 30, resulted in three Israelis' deaths and 11 others' injuries.
Authorities in Israel have said that two armed Hamas militants were responsible for the shooting. The terrorists reportedly arrived in an armed vehicle at the Givat Shaul intersection, which is located on the outskirts of the Holy City, and proceeded to open fire on innocent bystanders. When the police arrived at the bus stop, it was around 7:40 AM local time.
According to Fox News, three people were killed in the shooting incident in Jerusalem: Rabbi Elimelech Wasserman, 73 years old; Hana Ifergan, 67 years old; and Livia Dickman, 24 years old.
Bus Stop Shooting
Two gunmen, identified by Israeli authorities as being from east Jerusalem, were fatally shot by members of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the region. In the course of the gunfight, another innocent person lost their life.
The gunmen were brothers and reportedly linked to Hamas, according to Israeli media. Additional suspects, if any, have been ruled out after the assault site was sealed off and searches have been launched.
"The initial investigation indicates that the terrorists arrived [to] the scene by car in the morning, armed with an M-16 rifle and a handgun," said the representative for Jerusalem District Police. "At a certain point, the terrorists began shooting at civilians before subsequently being killed at the scene. A police search of the terrorists' car revealed ammunition and weaponry."
Because of the wide range of injuries sustained by the survivors, they were taken to two hospitals in the vicinity.
Three people were sent to the Hadassah Hospital after being shot. Meanwhile, Israeli authorities said that four more casualties were receiving medical attention for reasons other than physical harm.
Several other casualties were sent to Shaarei Tzedek Hospital, too. Tragically, two victims did not survive the injuries they sustained. Three others suffered serious wounds, and one was in a moderate state of health.
Jack Lew, the United States ambassador to Israel, denounced Thursday morning's shooting on the social networking site X (previously Twitter).
"Abhorrent terrorist attack in Jerusalem this morning. We unequivocally condemn such brutal violence. My thoughts are with the families of the victims and I offer my sincere condolences to all those affected," he stated.

Attacks Targeting Israelis
In a separate incident, an Israeli checkpoint near Moshav Beka'ot in the Jordan Valley region was rammed, according to the IDF. The attacker was neutralized by the shots fired by Israeli troops who were present at the location.
Reportedly, two Israeli soldiers were taken to a hospital for treatment after suffering minor injuries. An active investigation is ongoing, and IDF personnel are still combing the area.
These events occurred at a time when Israel and Hamas were in the middle of observing a temporary cease-fire amid a bigger battle that began with Hamas' assault on Israel on October 7.
