Miami (40-14) head into Thursday's contest looking for their sixth straight win. The Heat will also have back superstar LeBron James, who missed Miami's win on Sunday against Chicago because of a broken nose.
"He'll give it a shot Thursday," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said, via the Associated Press. "He was able to go through (Wednesday) without any hiccups. But he also didn't take a hit today."
James will wear mask to protect his broken nose.
"It lessens the impact," James said. "You can still feel it, because the nose is still tender. But it definitely lessens the pain."
Miami sustaining their winning streak means defeating New York, a team which has struggled this season. Injuries and a questionable roster are partly to blame for New York (21-36) going from a 54-win team last season to a team likely to watch the playoffs from home this season.
Despite the Knicks losing six of their last eight games, including three straight, Spoelstra knows anything can happen with Carmelo Anthony on the court.
"They haven't forgotten to play," said Spoelstra. "They've been injury-riddled all year long, and that's tough to deal with. That adversity coming into our game is irrelevant. I'm sure they'll be ready."
The two teams have met twice already during the season; New York won the first meeting on Jan. 9, and Miami won the second meeting on Feb. 1.
While Miami looks for their third straight NBA title, the team has struggled against mediocre teams: nine of the Heat's 14 losses came against teams with records below .500, according to the Associated Press.
