Bonneville County Sheriff's Office arrested Jeremy Albert Best, an Idaho man, after killing his wife, Kali Jean Randall, and kidnapping his 10-month-old, Zeke Best, infant son on Saturday.
Later on, the body of 10-month-old Best was discovered after a group of hunters called 911 to report seeing a man in a sleeping bag on the side of the road.
Police Arrested Best
The Teton County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from the Best residence at Skyline Loop in Victor. The caller heard arguing and sent police to the house.
The police immediately identified the body of the woman as Randall as soon they arrived at the house. After locating Randall, the police issued an Amber Alert, referring to Best as an armed and very dangerous homicide and kidnapping suspect on Friday.
On November 30, the police responded to a disturbance call at the Swan Valley General Store about a man who was nude and walking around the store. Best was evaluated by emergency medical service on scene and transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center by ambulance for further medical and mental health concerns.
"Best was secured and placed in a patrol car until Idaho Falls Ambulance personnel arrived to treat him for any injuries," the police said.
According to the police, the witness of a group of hunters reported Best naked and making odd statements. During the time of the call, Best was a suspect in the murder of his wife and the kidnapping of his son, which triggered an Amber Alert for the 10-month-old.
The hospital reported to the media that Best was discharged that afternoon. Best went home to kill his wife and kidnap his son after a few hours of leaving the hospital.
The police reported that Zeke was found dead at the scene but did not disclose where Zeke's body was discovered or identify his cause of death. They also discovered Best's black Chevy SUV down an embankment off the roadway near Zeke.
Bonneville County Detectives, Idaho State Police, and the TCSO continued the investigation with assistance from the Idaho Falls Police Detectives and FBI.
Best was transported to the Bonneville County Jail and booked for the outstanding homicide warrant in Teton County after a medical clearance and will remain in custody until his arraignment.
Idaho Kidnapping Law
According to Idaho code § 18-4501, kidnapping is defined as seizing, confining, inveigling, abducting or kidnapping a person or detaining a child under 16 years, by force or fraud to obtain money, property, or reward or any other thing of value for the return of such person.
Idaho laws classify kidnapping into two categories: first-degree and second-degree.
The first-degree kidnapping intends to kidnap a person to obtain money, commit rape, serious bodily injury upon the person abducted, and any lewd and lascivious act upon any child under the age of sixteen. The second-degree kidnapping does not have any ransom.
