Denver (25-31) has lost nine of their last 10 games, including three straight. The Nuggets head into Thursday's contest after a 100-95 loss on Tuesday to the Portland Trail Blazers. Despite the loss, Nuggets coach Brian Shaw was pleased with his team's effort.
"The effort that they showed for the majority of that fourth quarter is the effort that we have to come out with from the beginning of the game," Shaw said, via ESPN. "I didn't think we had that in the first quarter and that resulted in an 11-point deficit in the first quarter."
Denver's season took a hit with season-ending injuries to Nate Robinson, Danilo Gallinari and JaVale McGee. The Nets (26-29) has also struggled with injuries, including the season-ending broken foot suffered by center Brook Lopez.
Despite their poor start to the season, Brooklyn has strung together enough wins to remain in playoff contention within the weak Eastern Conference.
Still, the Nets, who presently hold the seventh playoff spot, have been uneven in the month of February. Brooklyn has lost five of their last 10 games, including a 124-80 blowout on Wednesday by Portland.
"Again on a long road trip you may have a game like this," Nets coach Jason Kidd said. "You don't want to but it happens and so we've got to put this one behind us and get ready for Denver."
