A viral Instagram video showing Israeli flags being raised on the roof of the Al Shifa Hospital has been debunked. This trending footage is a big deal since it triggered many supporters of Palestinians who are in the Gaza Strip, sparking angry comments from them.
It was originally posted on November 15. After that, it was shared by other Gaza supporters on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms. Now, fact-checkers were able to determine the truth behind this viral Instagram video. Here's what they revealed.
Viral Al Shifa Hospital Video Showing Israeli Flags Being Raised Debunked
According to Yahoo News' latest report, the debunked Instagram video generated thousands of likes, comments, and videos.
"Raising their flag over Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza - after attacking a hospital full of premature babies, suck/injured children and civilians. What accomplishment," said the Instagram account in its on-video caption.
However, fact-checkers rated the caption on the video as "false." They revealed that the Israeli Defense Forces troops were actually on the roof of a UN school.
This was confirmed by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees Juliette Touma. The official explained that the "UN" letters can't be seen in the video since they are beneath the feet of Israeli soldiers as they walk across the rooftop.
Reliable sources that debunked the video include the Associated Press and USA TODAY. As of writing, the original netizen who posted the viral video hasn't commented.
Viral Fake Al Shifa Hospital Video Already Angered Netizens
If you check the Instagram video's comment section, the majority of the comments are from Palestine's supporters who shared their disappointment and anger against Israeli forces.
"May the Almighty never give these soldiers any peace for as long as they live," said an Instagram user.
"Their only mission is to raise their flags every in Gaza if they are here for searching Hamas so why they are putting the flag in the hospital," added another netizen.
Others question why Israel considers taking over the Al Shifa Hospital and the entirety of the Gaza Strip an accomplishment. This clearly shows how false videos and fake news about the ongoing Israel-Hamas war can easily fool people.
The main problem with netizens nowadays is that they don't bother to research or fact-check if the news they are reading, the videos they are watching, and the content they share are true.
They just get triggered by what they see or fed to them by fake news spreaders who want to generate more views and interactions or create conflict among people.
