Jevin Allen, a Texas high school basketball player, and his older brother Jarrick Allen, who joined in the beating, were arrested on December 5 after attacking his coach in a parking lot for getting benched, which left multiple injuries to his head, neck, face, and arms.
During a game earlier that night, Jevin was benched due to his unsportsmanlike conduct.
Allen Brothers Arrested
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the coach, who was not identified by name, reported that Jevin was benched during the game due to his behavior toward an opposing team player. The given disciplinary action provoked Jevin and his family.
The authorities said that Jevin and his family were waiting for the coach in the parking lot, who returned to their school, Willis High School in Conroe, TX, at around 9:52 pm after the game. They added that the family confronted the coach, and the fight escalated when Jevin allegedly punched him in the face.
According to the New York Post, his brother immediately joined in the beating, and the two continued to thrash the coach until another coach and several bystanders stepped in to stop the fight.
The police said that the two ran off after the attack. The two were arrested after they were seen in surveillance footage and speaking to witnesses and deputies.
Jevin and his older brother were charged with assault on a public servant. They were released from Montgomery County Jail after posting a $23,000 bond each.
According to KHOU, the coach was still recovering from his injuries, and Jevin was no longer attending Willis High School.
The statement said, "The investigation is ongoing, but we did determine that the student's address was no longer valid, so he has been withdrawn from the district. We are deeply saddened by this incident and will not tolerate this behavior from students."
Conroe's Violent Attacks
According to Patabook News, there were two violent attacks between students reported at Oak Ridge High School.
The report showed at least one person has been charged in the first incident for allegedly stabbing a student in the head. An email was sent to parents on October 31, and the principal of Oak Ridge High School wrote that several students were involved in an altercation in one of the school bathrooms, with one student sustaining non-life-threatening lacerations.
Maria Gonzalez, the mother of the victim, received a phone call from school administrators informing her that they were taking her son to the emergency room. Gonzalez emotionally said that he sent her son to school thinking that he was safe, but then, one day, the school called to tell her son was stabbed in the head.
Gonzalez shared that her son ended up with multiple injuries, including a deep cut in the head, a fractured nose, a busted lip, and a damaged tooth. But her son was now recovering at their home, and she said that she was still not comfortable with sending her son back to school.
Furthermore, the complaint documents showed Jose Antonio Rodriguez III has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in this case.
