Fox News host Bill O'Reilly suggested that the president could use "gangsta rappers" to promote his new initiative to help young men of color, POLITICO reported.
While speaking with White House adviser Valerie Jarrett about "My Brother's Keeper," O'Reilly claimed that young men of color "idolize these guys with the hats on backwards, and the terrible rock - rap lyrics and the drugs and all that," he said, telling Jarrett to convince "gansta rappers," athletes, and "tattoo guys" to go on television and tell those who look up to them to "knock it off."
He also had some advice for first lady Michelle Obama, who he said should come on his show.
"You teenage girls. You stop having sex. You stop getting pregnant," he said the first lady should say, disregarding teenage sex for boys.
Jarrett disagreed and said it would be more effective for Michelle Obama to meet with young girls one-on-one.
"I think it's a great pitch to have her come on Fox," Jarrett added.
Despite his choice words about the new initiative, O'Reilly said the president's program could work though he's not sure it's "gritty" enough.
Jarrett also used their time together to defend the Pentagon's fiscal budget.
"Not that long ago you were telling us how we needed to get our fiscal house in order and tighten our belts and that requires a lot of sacrifices. But we're not sacrificing the safety or the security of our country," she said. "There's nothing that the president takes more seriously than his responsibility as commander in chief."
