The Ukraine-Russia war is still ongoing. As of writing, both sides are seemingly equal in the battlegrounds as Ukrainians try to defend their land and Russian soldiers make an effort to invade the European country.
Thanks to the military and financial aid offered by the U.S., Ukrainian troops are able to withstand the attacks of Vladimir Putin's Russian soldiers.
However, they need to do more if they want to win against the invading Russian forces. Now, Estonia provides a military strategy that Ukraine can rely on to win against Russia.
Estonia Shares How Ukraine Can Defeat Russia in 2025
Estonia's Ministry of Defense said that if Ukraine wants to defeat Russia as early as 2025, then the European nation's soldiers need to kill or maim at least 100,000 Russian forces in 2024.
For some people, this sounds like a very hard thing to do since Ukraine is fighting against one of the most powerful nations in the world and against the most skilled soldiers, as reported by Forbes.
However, statistics showed that Ukrainian troops have already killed hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers since the invasion began. Military experts claimed that Ukraine's military was able to eliminate over 315,000 Russian forces.
If you estimate this yearly, Ukrainian soldiers are able to neutralize around 172,000 invading Russian troops annually. The Estonian defense ministry explained why it would be a bad thing if Ukraine can't maintain their average Russian kills or exceed them.
"If undisrupted, Russia has the capacity to train approximately 130,000 troops every six months into cohered units and formations available for launching operations," said Estonian defense ministry officials via their official discussion paper.
But, killing or injuring hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers is just the tip of the iceberg since other things should be done, as suggested by Estonia.
Winning Against Russia: Other Things Ukraine Should Do
Aside from subduing 100,000 Russian soldiers yearly, Estonia said that Ukraine should do the following if it wants to win against Russia:
- Overcoming Russia's defense by severing its ground communication lines, degrading Russian Aerospace Forces, inflicting sustained and increased attrition, and training Ukrainian soldiers.
- Raising the costs of war in Russia by allocating confiscated/frozen assets to benefit Ukrainian soldiers.
- Reducing the Russian defense industrial output so Russia's cost and consequences of military attrition could increase.
